Azarenka Beats Boulter, Faces Putintseva in Miami Quarters

Former World No. 1 Continues Impressive Run

Former world number one Victoria Azarenka continued her impressive run at the Miami Open on Sunday, beating Katie Boulter in straight sets to reach the quarterfinals. The unseeded Azarenka, now ranked 32nd in the world, will next face Yulia Putintseva, who is ranked 68th in the world. Azarenka has won two titles this year, including the Adelaide International in January. She is also the reigning champion at the Indian Wells Open, which she won in 2022. Putintseva, meanwhile, has won one title this year, the WTA 250 event in Lyon. She is also a former top-20 player.

Quarterfinal Match Preview: Azarenka vs. Putintseva

Azarenka and Putintseva have met twice before, with Azarenka winning both matches. However, both of those matches were played on hard courts, and this match will be played on clay. Putintseva is a more experienced clay-court player, having won two titles on the surface. Azarenka, on the other hand, has not won a title on clay since 2011. This will be a tough match for both players, but Azarenka will be the favorite based on her current form and her head-to-head record against Putintseva.
