New York Yankees Take Game One of Series Against Kansas City Royals

Jazz Chisholm's heroics in the 11th inning gave the New York Yankees a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Friday night. With the bases loaded and one out, Chisholm lined a 1-1 sinker into shallow left field, scoring pinch-runner Tim Locastro from third base.

The Yankees had taken an early lead in the game, scoring two runs in the first inning off Royals starter Brady Singer. Aaron Judge led off the game with a single, and after advancing to second on a groundout, scored on a single by Anthony Rizzo. Rizzo later scored on a sacrifice fly by Gleyber Torres.

The Royals came back to tie the game in the third inning on a two-run homer by Salvador Perez. The Yankees regained the lead in the fourth inning on a solo homer by DJ LeMahieu, but the Royals tied the game again in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Nicky Lopez.

The game remained tied until the 11th inning, when the Yankees loaded the bases with one out. Chisholm then came through with the game-winning hit, giving the Yankees their first win of the series.

The win was the Yankees' fourth in a row and improved their record to 10-6 on the season. The Royals, meanwhile, fell to 6-10.

The two teams will face off again on Saturday night in the second game of the series.
